Alexandria, Virginia, NWPCA’s Marketing Director and Pallet Foundation Development Director are newly created positions combined into one, representing the first-ever marketing position for NWPCA and the first-ever staff hire for the Pallet Foundation.  We seek a data-curious, creative, and innovative marketing specialist for this shared position who will initiate, build, and lead NWPCA’s marketing activities and provide full-service support and leadership for the Pallet Foundation, expanding donor engagement and service.
As NWPCA Marketing Director, you are responsible for developing and executing the association’s overall marketing strategy to drive business growth, enhance brand visibility, and develop and achieve specific marketing objectives. As a non-profit with a for-profit mentality (with a commercial computer software system product), experience in both not-for-profit and for-profit marketing is a plus.
As the Pallet Foundation Development Director, you become the Foundation’s first official hire, responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage donors, support existing projects from inception to delivery, and advance the Foundation’s mission and initiatives. You will work closely with the Foundation’s leadership and NWPCA staff to cultivate relationships, secure financial contributions, and promote the organization’s work. A background in direct donor engagement programs is a plus.
This position is a unique opportunity for you to create a program and deliver results that make a tangible difference for the industry and the supply chain from day one. You will work closely with the entire NWPCA team, providing your expertise and assistance across the organization.
The National Wooden Pallet & Container Association (NWPCA) represents nearly 800 companies in 40 countries that manufacture, repair, and distribute wood pallets and packaging or supply products and services to the industry.  The association is rapidly growing, with more than 120 companies joining in 2023 and revenue topping $5 million. The Pallet Foundation was formed by NWPCA in 1996 to deliver the latest science and technology to improve the safety of our industry and the supply chain and improve the environment. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy, in consultation with relevant departments, for the Pallet Design System TM , NWPCA membership, publications, and events aligned with the association’s goals and objectives.
Market Research: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities, threats, and emerging trends, building marketing strategies for each NWPCA product and service.

Marketing Campaigns: Plan, execute, and deliver campaigns across various channels, such as digital, social media, email, events, and more. Monitor key marketing metrics to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Lead Generation: Develop and implement lead generation strategies to drive membership growth in close collaboration with NWPCA’s Senior Director of Business Partnerships.
Collaboration: Collaborate with NWPCA staff to ensure alignment and achievement of the association’s vision, mission, and business goals.

Key Responsibilities (Pallet Foundation):

Donor Relations: Deepen relationships with existing donors. Maintain donor databases and records, track donor contributions, and keep donor history data current online. Plan and execute fundraising campaigns.
Engagement and Outreach: Develop and implement engagement strategies to connect with potential donors, including the development and delivery of newsletters, social media, and other communication channels as appropriate.
Partnerships and Collaborations: Identify potential partnerships and collaboration opportunities with other organizations and foster strategic alliances to further the foundation’s mission and expand its reach.  Seek grants where appropriate to advance the Foundation’s vision, mission, and goals.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on donor engagement, fundraising activities, and financial contributions. Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for engagement and fundraising strategy improvement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
5+ years of progressive and proven experience in marketing, fundraising, donor relations, or a related field within the nonprofit sector. Additional for-profit marketing experience is a plus.
Proven record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies, grant writing, and donor stewardship.
Proficiency in donor management software, databases, and marketing technology and tools. Analytical and curious mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Independent and creative thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
