Family Outreach Worker

We are looking to appoint a Family Outreach Mentor to be based at the Newham PRUs this post is funded through the Violence Reduction Unit Newham until September 2024.

Over the lockdown period our pastoral and safeguarding teams worked closely with parents/carers to ensure safeguarding and overall well-being for our students and these close links are something that we are aiming to build upon.

The impact of Covid on families has resulted in the school facing additional challenges such as students being educated at home due to self-isolation, a reluctance by some to return to onsite education, financial hardship, aggravated mental health issues, families at crisis point and students at risk of criminal exploitation.

In this role you will work at our New Directions site within a multi-disciplinary and trauma informed approach and across a variety of different departments/teams, these include; Safeguarding, Attendance & Welfare, Pastoral, Transition & Progression, Outreach and Nurture.

You must have at minimum: Literacy and numeracy qualifications at level 2.

Must have experience of working in either social work, education or the youth work sector.
