Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
FULLY REMOTE

My client is an award winning Managed Service Provider (MSP) of IT services who are looking to recruit a Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer on a fully remote basis.

As a Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for the change and project needs of customers, this includes customer and internal communication, quoting and provisioning of hardware and software, project time management, and delivery of successful projects.

As a Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer an important part of this role will be to help identify, implement and document new technologies or services that improve internal processes or add additional services and functionality to customers. The ability to comprehensively explain these technologies to customers in a way that they will understand is key as many of our customers are not in the IT sector.

This role requires you to work with the IT Project Coordinator for scheduling and resourcing project work, reporting back successes or potential issues as they arise, thus allowing them to have oversite of all ongoing Projects.
As a member of the Change and Project team, this role reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager who in turn reports to the IT Technical Director.

Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve overall customer satisfaction (CSAT) of 95%
  • Consulting and preparing proposals for clients on new technologies that would complement their business.
  • Organise and manage all phases of the project to ensure on-time completion with budgetary requirements.
  • Provision of appropriate hardware and software in line with the customers’ needs.
  • Ensuring that risks are identified, communicated, and mitigated and that projects are delivered successfully through to production.
  • Perform customer follow-up to verify final resolution and determine satisfaction level.
  • IT Support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft’s core applications and operating systems, as well as virtual environments.
  • Implement and Support of services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint Online), Intune, Autopilot, Basic Admin SQL, etc.
  • Implement and Support of disaster recovery solutions.
  • Technical services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, switches, VLANs.
  • Deployment of end user devices; Microsoft Windows and MacOS
  • Innovation on existing and new solutions to help grow and expand our services to meet our customers current and future needs.

Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Identify areas for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.
  • Escalated service requests that require technical service level support
  • Communicate to customers: informed of progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages, etc.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the service catalogue and how it relates to customer’s needs
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
  • Responsible for entering time and expenses in ConnectWise (ticket/project management system) as it occurs
  • Plan and prioritise work to ensure that deadlines and targets are met
  • Working together with the Cyber Essentials Assessors to help ensure our customers are secure and promote awareness.

Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

  • Microsoft’s core business applications and operating systems, Windows Server, Active Directory
  • Scoping, installation, configuration and understanding of firewalls preferably Watchguard.
  • Scoping, installation, configuration and understanding of network Layer 2 and 3 switches preferably Cisco and Ubiquiti switches.
  • Local Area Network topology understanding as it relates to VLANs, tagging and untagging.
  • Understanding of the flow of email from sender to recipient and the domain name configurations needed such as MX, SPF, DMARC and Auto Discover
  • How to procure, apply and license within Office 365
  • Administration and disciplines to enable recommendations to the customer in written form by email and quotes.
  • Experienced in laptop builds straight out the box by following guided manual processes and/or MS Autopilot
  • Understanding of Voice Call Queues and Auto Attendants
  • ConnectWise Automate RMM Fundamentals or other
  • Setup and administration of Microsoft 365 tenancies and associated services; E.g. Exchange, Sharepoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Migration of on premise services to Microsoft 365 services; E.g. File server -> Sharepoint
  • Setup and administration of Microsoft Azure services; E.g. Azure Active Directory, Microsoft InTune, Microsoft AutoPilot, Azure Virtual Machines/Storage Accounts/Networks
  • Soft Skills, Customer Service (Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active Listening and customer-care)
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly; Self-motivated and self-disciplined, you remain calm under pressure and you are a capable and tenacious problem-solver.
  • Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details
  • Team player, you will thrive in a collaborative environment and will contribute fully to the success of your team
