Athens, Ohio, Job Description: This position is located in Athens, Ohio. Hybrid work will be considered. This position will focus on developing content to promote externally funded projects which focus on expanding economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and improved quality of life for underserved populations in Ohio and beyond. This person will work in collaboration with the Directors of External Relations and Strategic Initiatives as well as other senior leadership at the School to implement the Dean's priorities regarding external project coverage. This position will also work closely with University Communications and Marketing to ensure alignment with University priorities, policies, and brand standards. In partnership with the School's employees and student workers, this position will develop and support the creation of external reports, articles, brochures, websites, videos, posts, etc. to raise awareness of, and support future funding for, the School's project work. Primary duties include: Content Development: This role primarily focuses on the development of content to promote the School's externally funded project work. Serves as a communications link among the School's public service teams, the Dean's Office, University Communications and Marketing, and external partners. Works with School leadership, staff, and students to identify projects to highlight, gather information / images, and develop into stories, brochures, videos, web pages, posts, etc. to effectively promote the School's public service project work across diverse communication platforms. Management: Oversees and mentors up to 6 student writers, photographers, and videographers, including training, supervising, assigning, and approving working. Managers consultants and professional service firms as needed, ensuring all efforts are aligned with School and University policy and priorities. Photography: Oversee and manage the extensive photography processes and archiving within the School. Ensuring visual documentation of project work, completion of waiver paperwork as needed, and cataloging of these materials to facilitate future identification and use. The successful candidate must have the ability to work nights and weekends to meet project deadlines. Understanding of and the ability to travel locally and outside of the Athens area with some overnight travel. Access to reliable internet for remote work when needed. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or related field. At least 6 years of any work experience and least one year of management experience is required.
