AASA is looking for a Marketing Coordinator with one to three years of experience in marketing or communications with a focus on copywriting and email marketing. The successful candidate works well independently and in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment, and possesses a positive and curious attitude. This person will play a critical role in enhancing AASA’s visibility and engagement by crafting compelling marketing materials, executing email campaigns, and managing our newsletter content and distribution. The incumbent will work closely with the marketing and communications team to promote our mission, events and initiatives across the association. AASA is located in Alexandria, Va., just outside of our nations capital. Living in the DC/MD/VA area is not required since this is primarily a remote position. Starting salary for this position is $48,000 to $60,000 depending on knowledge, skills and experience. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Informs & Executes Marketing Campaigns Creates engaging marketing copy for various channels, including email, website content, print and other promotional materials. Ensures messaging aligns with the association's brand identity and values. Supports the development of and executes email marketing campaigns to promote association events & programs, resources, and initiatives. Executes AASA’s in-house digital and print advertisements. Works closely with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with organizational goals. Develops & Deploys Digital Newsletters Curates and edits content for various association newsletters. Coordinates newsletter distribution to members and stakeholders. Monitors and analyzes newsletter engagement metrics to optimize content strategy. Supports and informs the ongoing evaluation of AASA’s digital newsletter strategy. Creates Content & Graphics Writes news items, blog posts, social media posts, articles and various other pieces as part of AASA’s ongoing content marketing and communications strategy. Creates graphics for various digital channels including social media, newsletters, eblasts, website and more. Updates, edits and creates webpages in accordance with AASA’s digital engagement strategy. Supports Digital Advertising & Sponsorship Activities Inputs, schedules and disseminates advertiser and sponsor eblasts. Provides tracking analytics to advertising vendors. Ensures newsletter ads and eblast campaigns are fulfilled in a timely and systematic manner. Supports Cross-Departmental Teams As a vital contributing member of the marcomms team, present original ideas for telling the association’s story. Acts as a project manager as needed and utilizes AASA’s project management software to track projects and assignments. Works closely with the technology team to support virtual events. Supports membership marketing initiatives. Supports communications initiatives like podcasts, videos, and event coverage. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related discipline. Experience: One to three years’ experience in marketing or communications, with a focus on copywriting and email marketing. Must excel in multitasking, project management, attention to detail and staying updated with industry trends. Skills: Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to maintain attention to detail, consistency, and grammar. Highly organized individual with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. A positive and curious attitude, working well independently and in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment. An eye for and interest in design. Familiarity with design tools like Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a plus. Digitally savvy and able to learn new systems and software quickly.
