Davis, California, EVENTS SPEC 2 (Health Professions Events and Marketing Coordinator) Job Summary Under general supervision from, and in collaboration with the Directors of the Health Professions Advising (HPA) unit and the Health Professions Postbaccalaureate Program (HPPB), the Health Professions Events and Marketing Coordinator (EMC) coordinates the annual Pre-Health Conference (PHC), special HPA and HPPB events, and marketing materials for both units. The EMC must work with relative independence to coordinate and oversee scheduling, budgeting, catering, communication, marketing, registration, and day-of logistics for these events. Partner with Conference and Events Services and other campus units to ensure events meet campus standards.

The events vary in size, ranging from the PHC, a large, annual event hosting approximately 200 high-profile exhibitors from partner medical, dental, veterinary, pharmacy, nursing, and other health profession institutions, to smaller events such as workshops, information sessions, and recruitment activities. On behalf of HPA and the PB program, the EMC coordinates the creation and maintenance of new and existing marketing assets to promote the services, supports, and opportunities provided by both units. The EMC coordinates with the CBS Director of Communications to ensure the representations of the HPA, HPPB, college, and campus brands align with campus standards.

In addition, the EMC manages the annual events calendar to communicate programs and opportunities to internal campus partners, UC Davis students, and external partners via program websites, email marketing, social media, and other venues. Experience planning, coordinating, managing, and evaluating logistics, budgets, and participant details for large, complex public events in a large institutional setting.

Experience in procurement for all aspects of program implementation, including securing bids and quotes for goods and services from various vendors, and implementing promotional and marketing techniques to engage target audiences. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Organizational skills to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, establish goals, organize projects, and meet multiple and competing deadlines, requiring time management efficiency, attention to detail, and skills to establish goals and workload priorities under limited supervision. Writing, editing, and proofreading skills to use proper grammar and punctuation to create and proofread program, event, and marketing materials.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience: Experience using advanced features of word processing, database spreadsheets, email, and web-based software. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Political acumen and knowledge of best practices in representing the university in interactions with diverse internal and external constituencies. Skill to communicate and work collaboratively on event and marketing specifications with program sponsors, designers, photographers, printers, and other vendors to ensure outcomes align with program goals and fiscal parameters.
