Greensboro, North Carolina, Description: The Director of Marketing role for North Carolina A&T State University’s Strategic Partnership and Economic Development division requires the ability to conceptualize, strategize, plan, and implement fundamental brand engagement strategies across the dynamic 21st century media and creative industry, while seeking ways to innovate with new ideas.  Strategic marketing expertise will play a pivotal role in developing and creating the narrative for the NC A&T’s new Division of Strategic Partnership and Economic Development. The Director will have direct interactions with university internal core and cross functional teams, partner/client leadership for content creation and development.  It is essential that the successful candidate be able to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect with university peers, media agencies, and cross-functional leadership (marketing services and ops, digital, PR/Social, and creative). We seek a leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for creative thinking; someone who is in tune with current culture and can identify where corporate trends are going and what’s resonating with different customer groups.  Highlight those qualities with an appreciation for process, best practices, and the ability to lead clients, inspire creative teams to develop leading edge, impactful work.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit: One of 16 constituent universities in the University of North Carolina System, North Carolina A&T is a land-grant doctoral research institution described as R2 – High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.  The university offers 114 degree programs and minors at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels, in addition to 19 certificate and professional development programs.  In addition to its main campus, the university co-manages Gateway Research Park, which fosters technology transfer and regional economic development, and is a partner in both the Union Square health sciences campus in downtown Greensboro and the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis. N.C. A&T enrolls approximately 14,000 students, making it America’s largest historically Black university for the ninth consecutive year.

It is America’s largest producer of Black graduates in engineering, agricultural science, journalism and liberal arts and is recognized as a national leader in STEM teaching and research.  U.S. News & World Report ranks it among the nation’s top 50 national universities in innovation and among its top 40 in social mobility. It also lists A&T’s Willie A.

Deese College of Business and Economics among the nation’s top 100 graduate business programs, and graduate programs in rehabilitation counseling, industrial and systems engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering all among America’s top 150. The Division of Strategic Partnerships serves as an advocate between North Carolina A&T State University and the communities in which it resides on a wide variety of local, regional, state, and federal issues. This newly developed office will lead in cultivating, stewarding and sustaining creative and reciprocal partnerships with private and public corporations.  The office also supports economic development efforts of the state of North Carolina and the Piedmont Triad region by actively recruiting companies and promoting university-industry partnerships.  The Division of Strategic Partnerships proactively engages with corporations and other potential external partners to understand their needs and match these to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s assets by means of systematic outreach and internal scouting to identify and realize partnership opportunities originating with faculty, and to demonstrate value to N.C.

A&T’s mission as we execute our initiatives and strategic plan focused on advancing the human condition, elevating public service, community engagement and entrepreneurship, and expanding the reach of the university to meet global needs. Internal job number: 007506 Requirements: Master’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment with at least 6+ years of experience  or  Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.  All degrees should be in areas of brand management, marketing, advertising in-house or an ad agency experience and degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
