Marketing and Communications Internship – College of Engineering

The College of Engineering Marketing and Communications team is looking to hire interns!. Our dynamic team includes writers, editors, designers, and multimedia developers who share the stories of our college by translating cutting-edge technical, scientific, and engineering-based content into written and visual stories for a more general audience.

We are looking for creative communicators to help us with a variety of writing and communications projects. Over the course of the internship, our intern(s) will assist with: Featuring stories and other content for college and department websites Assisting with the development and review of stories for our magazine and other print materials Create social media content Design and research projects Documentation Developing various materials Editing and proofreading content Conducting research and benchmarking Other projects based on skills and interest Other duties as assigned Inclusion, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity are valued proficiencies at CMU. Therefore, we are in search of a team member who can effectively interact with a varied population of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity and polish even under stress.

We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work. Qualifications/Requirements: High School or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Skills/experience with design, photography, HTML/CSS, and content management systems are a plus, but not required.

The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate excellent written and oral communications skills Demonstrate outstanding research and interviewing skills Illustrate reliability, have the ability to work independently and have a sense of creativity Other Details: Interns work a minimum of five hours per week during the semester and up to full-time during the summer. This internship is a paid position. Start date is flexible.
