Davis, California, MARKETING SPEC 2 (ASUCD Director of Marketing & Communications) Department Description ASUCD is a multi-dimensional unit that enhances student life. It is dedicated to fulfilling student-oriented goals in the areas of academics, job opportunities, lobbying agencies and providing the highest quality student-managed services, activities, and programs at the lowest possible cost. ASUCD is characterized by frequent turnover, a horizontal organizational chart, and elected student leaders. The various units within ASUCD bear no semblance to each other. ASUCD reports to the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and a dotted line relationship with the Chancellor. Job Summary Under the direction of the ASUCD Advisor develop and oversee implementation of the Creative Media strategic marketing, graphic, social media and communications program for ASUCD. Informed by market research, create strategic communication themes based on ASUCD's four pillars: basic needs, media, advocacy, and social activities. ASUCD employs upwards of 1600 hourly student jobs who work hard to enhance the student experience by providing programs, services and opportunities important to the undergraduate student population. Extensive experience developing, implementing strategic plans and content strategies and integrating across multiple platforms such as print, digital and social media, etc. to reach and engage diverse audiences. Demonstrate experience conducting, overseeing market research, including surveys and focus groups to gather audience perceptions and influences. Experience supervising, mentoring, developing and evaluating student staff and managing collaborations with freelance professionals and vendors, including printers, photographers, designers. Experience applying judgment, leadership and decision-making skills to collaborate with executive leadership and guide individuals and committees in collective planning, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building. Demonstrated client service skills and experience, applying analytical and problem solving skills to meet client goals as well as overarching organizational goals. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) : Demonstrated use of writing and editing skills to use language effectively and creatively. Recognizing the use of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation correctly and understanding. Translate complex concepts into lay terms. Knowledge of a Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience: Experience in project management, demonstrating use of problem solving and organizational school skills to effectively monitor and manage multiple large scale projects with overlapping deadlines and tasks. Experience with marketing strategies for engaging with college-aged individuals, including digital and emerging technologies. Experience in resource allocation, including budget management and goal setting. Experience with advertising practices and buys. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) : Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, publication, design and production, and skills to use Adobe Creative Suite.
