Director, Marketing and Communications is a strategic and results-oriented leader responsible for crafting and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that elevates IFDA’s, and the foodservice distribution industries brand, fosters member engagement, and achieves the associations goals. This visionary leader will oversee the development and execution of all marketing and communications initiatives, ensuring that the association, and its members, maintain a positive image and reputation within the industry and among its stakeholders.
Essential Responsibilities: 
  Lead strategic marketing and communications:

Develop and implement an annual comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with IFDA’s goals and objectives.
Ensure consistent branding across all channels, upholding the association’s brand guidelines.
Monitor brand sentiment and reputation, addressing any negative perceptions promptly and effectively.
Create and manage the annual department budget, effectively maximizing ROI and contributing to the organization’s goals.

Plan and execute an industry awareness/marketing campaign including the management of external resources.
Lead, develop and implement external communication strategies to keep members and stakeholders informed.
Lead all communications in support of IFDA’s policy and government affairs efforts including writing op-eds in support of IFDA’s goals.
Develop and pitch stories to national and local media to generate interviews in support of IFDA’s goals.
Ensure consistency and positive positioning of IFDA’s brand in external communications.

Oversee digital marketing and branding :

Develop and oversee the strategy and content for IFDA’s website, digital channels, and social media.
Leverage data and analytics to ensure campaigns meet goals and enhance IFDA’s brand presence, engagement, and effectiveness.
Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, identifying and implementing strategies to improve marketing and communications efforts.

Enhance member engagement and event promotion:

Create a cohesive plan to brand IFDA and its collection of programs and services.
Increase member engagement by informing IFDA’s members about the association’s priorities, programs and services.
Build awareness and drive attendance to meetings and events.
Develop prepared remarks, speeches, presentations, and other communications for IFDA staff and leadership.

Manage stakeholder relationships and external vendors:

Foster long-term working relationships with key stakeholder audiences, including IFDA members, trade press, media influencers, and social media communities.
Cultivate and manage outside vendor relationships, ensuring goal attainment, quality and cost-effectiveness.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position manages two full time employees. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
To perform this job in an exceptional fashion, the individual should possess the knowledge, skills and abilities noted below and minimally meet the education, training and/or work experience required.
Education/Experience:

10 years in association management is preferable
Experience leading and managing communications and marketing campaigns

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities:

The ability to lead cross-functional teams and work with different viewpoints to build consensus
Forward-thinking and creative
Open to new ideas with a strong desire to continuously improve;
Excellent collaborative skills working with a team in a high pressure environment.
Exceptional people skills

Location and Travel:
  This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule consisting of three days in the office (M-W-F) and two from home (T – TH). 
Travel:
  Minimal overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.
